The Law Of Attraction: Is It Broken?
I received an email that said:
“There’s a huge problem with the Law of Attraction. The problem is…it’s not working for most people and unfortunately you might be one of them. There is a lot of confusion about the Law of Attraction, what it is AND is not, and how it really works. If I asked you to explain the LOA, what would you say?”
My response:
There is not really a problem with the Law of Attraction so much as there is a problem with our understanding its meaning. It’s actually rather simple. Essentially, the Law of Attraction is: I attract to myself the things on which I focus. When I think “I am in a bad mood” then my mood is dour. When I think “I am Peace” then my life is filled with peace.
When I perform the act of resisting something, my focus is on the thing I resist. My act of focusing on that thing is what increases its attraction to me, even though my focus is in the form of resisting. In order to break the cycle of ‘What you resist persists’, I simply think about the thing (or things) I want to have in my life and choose not to think about the thing I am resisting. Simple, but maybe not so easy…
How does it work for you?
Best Regards,
David

Hey uncle Dave couldn’t have phrased it better myself!dead on!I’m loving how this is evolving and I hope u r gaining as much enlightenment as ur spreading =)
It worked for me in one big area- romantic relationship. Two years ago I got out of a bad relationship and revamped my whole outlook on relationships in general. In fact, I reached a point where I did not want a relationship unless it was with someone who I thought couldn’t possibly exist, as I had become incredibly picky. I had written a list (kind of, i guess it was more of a letter to the universe) of what I wanted in a man. I was completely content with being alone, almost to a point of not wanting anyone to disturb that. When I met Chris, the whole reason I even went out with him is because of the person who he is. He is unlike any other man I’ve met or dated, and I don’t know that I would have given anyone else a chance at that point.
I’ve noticed that often when we focus on what we want, when we think we are REALLY focusing on it, what we are actually emphasizing, somewhere inside of us, is the lack of whatever it is we are focusing on. Something about thinking we are incomplete without the thing we are focusing on, I think brings our inner focus back to our own lacking. Maybe the key is to realize that we are complete and perfect exactly where we are and with who we are, before we can attract more. I don’t know, that just seemed to be the place I was in when I attracted something more into my life.
In the Law of Attraction, thoughts become things. The initial thought, backed with belief, leads to the words we say, which leads to the ACTIONS we take, which leads to the manifestation of the things we see in our physical reality. Action is a BIG part of this equation. Without it…the equation is out of balance and doesn’t work. So no matter how hard you think, how hard you believe, how much you talk…there is still action required to manifest the things you want in your life…even if that action is merely ‘receiving’ the thing you’ve asked for. And that’s how the Law of Attraction works.
In my opinion, the “Law of Attraction” should be called the “Law of Attraction and Repulsion”. If I want a Chevy, I begin to think about Chevy’s, study Chevy’s, and end up buying a Chevy. But I am probably NOT buying a Ford, Honda, or a Porsche. Therefore, am I “attracting” a Chevy and “repulsing” the others?
There is no such law.
I totally agree! I am usually in a bad mood in the morning and that makes my day pretty miserable. I suppose I have been living the Law of Attraction without realizing it. Now, it is time to do it positively!
Based on my mentor’s work, the Law of Attraction is just one part of many laws, most of which are ignored for the hype of this single law. He personally focuses on two others: The Law of Allowing and The Law of Deliberate Creation (Google them!). Nothing wrong with the hype. I love to see people hearing this information anew about the Law. Now we only need to take it to the next level.
Beyond those two Laws, I’ve heard skeptics speak of how they dreamed of using the Law of Attraction to acquire something large, my favorite example being the desire of a relationship with a famous person. But dreaming is not doing. The Law of Attraction doesn’t work for skeptics generally because even if they WANT something doesn’t mean they BELIEVE in the Law and will take the steps it will take to acquire what you want (the hardest step being that you must believe you already have it!).
Now don’t go off stalking any famous people! That may take the Law of Attraction to the Laws of the State.
There’s a fourth law that my mentor mentions. I’ll have to revisit his laws with him and see if I can share it with David!
Great post! Thanks!
